First of all, I on behalf of the whole team of Dimensions would wish everyone out there a very Happy Women’s Day.

I really didn’t have any words to express my bundle of excitement when I saw my name as a content writer on the official website of Dimensions as a content writer. My name is Debadrita Sengupta and I am a content writer at Dimensions. To be more precise I am a content creator and I embarked on my journey, both as a content writer and a fashion blogger almost at the same time in June 2020 during the covid-19 pandemic.

My Realization This Women’s Day

Locked down in my home because of the Covid-19 pandemic, a lot of harsh realities of life struck me hard. This was when I realised the importance of a woman being self-independent and self-sufficient. Despite huge achievements in various fields, what even the biggest nations dream even today is to achieve gender equality. The cultural, socio-economic and historic shackles of the society still hinder paths of thousands of women in achieving their goals. We forget that the hands which are capable of shaking the cradle can shake the world. Time and again history has proved this. Various issues over years have debilitated the power of women. What we are still striving towards is to overcome these barriers.

Financial independence is of significant importance in a woman’s life. This was drilled into my mind at a very young age by my parents. The urge of becoming financially independent brought me to start my journey as a fashion blogger and content writer after my class 12. I am a staunch believer of the fact that one should be doing what they really love. And there I was doing what I was best at, creating fun and amazing looks and writing articles. I felt I could manage these two things along with my academics.

I started my blog ‘The Mystic Journal‘ with one of its major goals being the revival of the Indian cottage industries. From my childhood, I was drawn to the concept of wearing only matching clothes. Thanks to my parents for tolerating all my demands and fulfilling them. As I grew up, I developed a keen interest in styling myself as well as my family members. I would take pride in the fact that all my family members and friends make sure they take my opinion on the matter.

It was during this pandemic when I decided that I must give this hobby a professional appeal. Hence, I started The Mystic Journal. It isn’t merely a blog. It’s my little effort in trying to redefine the parameters of beauty. I am yet to build my blog up completely so that I reach out to maximum people with my concepts of beauty and fashion. Initially, I faced a lot of mixed responses to my blog. Some responses were overwhelming while some of them criticized me continuously. My blog has not yet been a huge success. But I dream of it and feel that I am capable of turning it into reality.

Content writing happened to me by chance but today I count it as my biggest blessing. I was asked by Dipanwita Gupta to write some articles for an Ed-Tech company. I was preparing for the same entrance examination to which the articles were made. So it became easy for me to write them. I was completely new to this world. Dipanwita, the founder of Dimensions and my role model was generous back then as she is today to help me out with any problem I face in my work.

Slowly and steadily, I expanded my niche of writing to travel and hospitality, interior decoration and services, website blogs, parenting, etc. I had been contemplating a lot before starting my journey as a content writer but once I did, there was no looking back. Hence, it is vital to start and implement. There might be chances of failure but I believe that failures are a very crucial part of success.

So this International Women’s Day I urge every single woman out there to follow their dreams, to listen to their hearts, to be bold, passionate, strong and optimistic, to not let other’s dominate their lives, to soar to heights and shine.
